Paris Saint-Germain finds Mbappe’s successor in Barcelona, the Catalans are open to talks

Paris Saint-Germain appear to be closing in on the idea of losing Kylian Mbappe, and it could happen this summer. If this is the case, then it could have a detrimental effect on Barcelona.

According to Diario AS, PSG have decided to pursue Ousmane Dembele if they lose Mbappe. Real Madrid is his presumed destination, but the question is whether that will happen now or at the end of the transfer window, as the French club have set a price tag on the striker.

Dembele has been linked with PSG on several different occasions in the past, and currently his release clause is just €50 million. This increases to 100 million euros on August 1.

However, the Blaugrana, according to their information, would be willing to negotiate a few million more under his release clause, given their financial constraints.

The winger’s contract expires next summer and Barcelona have started talks with Dembele over a new deal until 2027.

However, as was the case last time, it seems that negotiations with his agent Moussa Sissoko will end. At least before PSG’s interest, Dembele was thought to be staying at Barcelona.

PSG manager Luis Enrique has given the green light for his side to pursue Dembele and his former team-mate and captain Xavi Hernandez is unlikely to be happy about the idea of Barcelona negotiating Dembele’s exit.

Xavi has stuck his neck out for Dembele on numerous occasions, and reaped the rewards last season before injury ruined his playing time from January onwards. He is likely to be one of the players he would be keener to keep, given Dembele’s capacity to get past defenders.
