Roma have reportedly agreed a deal with West Ham United to bring Gianluca Scamacca to the Olimpico for the 2023/24 season on loan with an option to buy, which could become mandatory if certain conditions are met.
It’s no secret that the Giallorossi have been in the market for a new striker following Tammy Abraham’s long-term injury at the end of the 2022/23 season.
Scamacca, who joined West Ham from Sassuolo for around €36m just over a year ago, has been linked with a return to Italy for several months now. Now, Rome seems to be his next destination.
According to Calciomercato.com, West Ham are prepared to let Scamaccan leave on loan for a fee of around 4-5 million euros, with an option to buy for 22 million euros.
This option will become mandatory if Scamacca registers a certain number of appearances in the 2023/24 season and if Roma secure Champions League qualification.
Scamacca has been dropped from the England squad for their latest pre-season friendlies and has already removed the words ‘West Ham player’ from his Instagram bio.
Tiago Pinto is said to be flying to London to complete the deal next week
