Alessandro Bastoni admitted that important players have left Inter, but there is no doubt about their chances for the Scudetto next season.
The Nerazzurri have made some key signings so far this summer in the likes of David Frattesi, Marcus Thuram, Juan Cuadrado and Yann Aurel Bisseck, but have also lost some familiar faces such as Andre Onana, Milan Skriniar and Marcelo Brozovic.
Inter are currently working to finalize a deal for Udinese’s Lazar Samardzic and are still looking to sign a new centre-forward before the end of the summer transfer window.
Speaking to Gazzetta dello Sport, Bas toni first discussed the changing nature of this Inter squad, while later talking about the team’s chances for the Serie A title.
“It takes time, we are still at the beginning, but I have no doubts about this Inter. In fact, many players are different, important players have left on and off the field. But we are here now”, said Bastoni first.
“It depends on us who are here to make those who have come and those who will arrive understand what it means to play for Inter and to stay in Milan.”
“And then, specifically, we have to help the coach and make sure our new teammates quickly understand our tried and tested way of playing.”
“The new signings? We are all satisfied, from what I have seen, people have come who want to work and learn. Time is needed, but I have no doubt that everyone will be up to the task”.
“Bisseck? You’ve all seen it. He has great physical strength, he is good, he has space and time to improve a lot. We are counting on him a lot.”
“Scudetto? We are Inter, victory is a must. And so, we think to bring home as many wins as possible. We have to focus on this, the rest will follow.”
“We will see in a few months where we are, then everything will be clear. But if the mentality will be like this, I have no doubt that Inter will be in the race for the top”, concluded the Italian defender.
