Gianluigi Buffon has officially announced his retirement with a video covering his 28-year career as he hangs up his gloves at the age of 45.
There had already been reports over the last 48 hours that the Italian legend had decided to seal his retirement, despite the fact that his contract with Parma ran until June 2024.
“That’s all folks! You gave me everything. You gave everything. We did it together”, wrote Buffon.

He made his Serie A debut aged 18 for Parma, went on to win the Scudetto with Juventus, Ligue 1 at PSG, then returned to Juve and made his return to Parma in Serie B.
Buffon was a key figure in Italy’s 2006 World Cup triumph and is widely regarded as the best goalkeeper in football history.
