Kylian Mbappé has rejected the move to Chelsea for more than a season after open discussions between the English club and the Parisians to formalize a possible transfer.
The owner of the Blues, Todd Boehly, spoke with the PSG owner, Nasser Al Khelaifi, in an attempt to reach an agreement, but the player’s refusal could prolong a crisis that needs to be resolved before August 31.
The Ligue 1 champion h as put the forward up for sale for around 250 million euros, and currently, no club is capable of reaching that amount.
The London club promised to make an offer, but for this, they would need to reach an agreement with the player, and it seems that Mbappé isn’t very interested in this move, as reported by the Spanish medium – Sport.
He would be willing to go on loan or transfer for only a year, but the operation doesn’t suit either of the two clubs. The French striker wants to determine his fate and doesn’t rule out the possibility of leaving as a free agent on June 30, 2024.
At PSG, they’re starting to lose patience because they’re beginning to understand that Mbappé might already have a closed deal with Real Madrid for the upcoming season.
In Paris, they’re not ready to negotiate their sale to the Spanish team this summer, and in Madrid, no progress has been made as they realize it’s unreasonable to pay 250 million for a player whose contract expires in a year.
The situation is at an ultimate standstill, with less than a month left for the transfer window to close. It’s a true game of poker in which the player is ready to participate even if PSG benches him for the entire season.
The threat is on the table, but the reality is that the Parisian club needs to sell to be able to sign some players without violating financial fair play rules.
Chelsea has also been open to discussing a one-year loan as a solution for the turmoil.
