AS Roma have not called up Roger Ibanez for today’s friendly with Toulouse, as they are working to sell the defender to Al-Ahli.
The 24-year-old Brazilian defender has been shortlisted by the Giallorossi as they work to generate some cash to make some much-needed transfers.
Nottingham Forest appeared this week with a €25m bid for Ibanez, but it was well below Roma’s €35m asking price. In recent days, Al-Ahli then entered the fray and are said to have agreed personal terms with the 24-year-old, who is expected to earn over €6 million net per season.
Calciomercato.com details how Roma are preparing for their penultimate pre-season friendly with Toulouse and Jose Mourinho’s squad will not include Ibanez, making his position in the transfer market clear.
Talks between the Giallorossi and Al-Ahli are still ongoing and both sides are optimistic that an agreement can be reached soon.
If an agreement is reached, Ibanez will travel to Paris to undergo his medical before signing his contract with the Saudi club.
