Leonardo Bonucci arrived late at the Allianz Juventus Stadium this evening and his Instagram message shows that he has accepted that this is the end of the road with the Italian giants.
The defender has been ruled out of their pre-season tour of the United States and all other pre-season friendlies, including tonight’s 8-0 win against the Next Gen youth team.
Although he was not called up, Bonucci came out to the stadium during the final minutes and signed autographs for the fans.
He then posted a message on Instagram that felt like his surrender to the inevitable, that he will no longer play for Juventus.
“Here I learned a lot, fought a lot and dreamed, so much. More than I thought was possible.”
“Today’s reality, in a country that apart from everything that I continue to perceive as my home, continues to teach me how much love and affection can go beyond the situations that are imposed on it.”
“Thank you to all of you Juventini, from the first day until today!”, he wrote.
Bonucci has no intention of hanging up his boots, as a free transfer to Serie B side Sampdoria, coached by his former Juventus team-mate Andrea Pirlo, looks on the way.
Another possible alternative is Lazio who play in the Champions League.
The 36-year-old is still under contract with the Bianconeri until June 2024 and has made 502 appearances for the club.
