Over the past fortnight, Neymar Junior has been heavily linked with a return to Barcelona, six years after he left the club to join Paris Saint-Germain in a record deal that cost 222 million euros.
PSG want to get rid of Neymar before the end of this summer’s transfer window and are likely to accept offers well below the value they paid in 2017.
This is good for Barcelona, who cannot afford to spend too much due to financial issues.
According to Sport newspaper, PSG will allow Neymar to rejoin Barcelona this summer, although the La Liga champions have reservations about signing the Brazilian forward.
Namely, coach Xavi Hernandez is not convinced that he would be a good reinforcement for his team.
At this stage, Barcelona are not progressing on a deal to sign Neymar, although that could change if they make a big sale.
However, there is a chance – albeit a slim one – that the 31-year-old could return to Catalonia in the near future.
