Real Madrid has officially confirmed the extent of Eder Militao’s injury.
Los Blancos triumphed 2-0 away to Athletic Bilbao in the first match of the 2023/24 season.
But this victory also had consequences, as the Brazilian defender suffered a knee injury.
And now Real Madrid have confirmed that Militao has torn his cruciate ligament and is expected to be out for six months.
In a statement from the club it is said: “After the tests carried out on our player Eder Militão, he has been diagnosed with a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee”.
“The player will undergo an operation in the coming days.”
This comes just three days after Thibaut Courtois suffered the same injury.
