Rico Lewis has signed a new five-year contract with Manchester City, keeping him at the club until the summer of 2028.
The Bury-born defender joined City’s Academy as an eight-year-old and has progressed through the age groups to become a key member of Pep Guardiola’s first team.
In his debut season, Lewis made 23 appear ances and his significant impact was a major factor in helping the club win the treble.
The 18-year-old is excited to sign a new deal with the club he has supported since he was a child and with the opportunity to develop even further.
“It’s been an incredible year for me and now signing this contract is a dream come true,” Lewis said first.
“As a City fan, I remember watching them win trophies when I was young and this is the only place I ever wanted to be.”
“Knowing that I will be here until 2028 is fantastic and I can’t wait to keep working and keep improving.”
“Everyone at the club has been so amazing, starting with the Academy where I learned so much and I’m extremely grateful for everything they’ve done.”
“The fans have also been great and I will give everything for them and the club to try and keep us successful,” the Englishman concluded.
