Arsenal on Tuesday reached an agreement with Brentford for the loan with the right to buy Spanish goalkeeper David Raya.
This agreement will cost the “Gunners” coffers a full 3.5 million euros, while if the Londoners decide to take him in the end, then they will have to pay another 31.5 million euros next summer.
The 27-year-old will have to fight for the starting position with Aaron Ramsdale, who had the confidence of coach Mikel Arteta last season.
However, Raya’s history with Arsenal seems to date back to earlier as the goalkeeper has fond memories with “The Gunners” and has a tattoo on his neck which best proves something like this.
Raya has a tattoo with the date August 13, 2021, a special date for the goalkeeper as it is the day he made his debut in the Premier League, precisely in a match against Arsenal.
Brentford played Arsenal on 13 August 2021, and the Bees won 2-0 with Ryan keeping a clean sheet.
Now, Raya will defend Arsenal’s goal as he is the fourth reinforcement for “The Gunners” after Jurrien Timber, Kai Havertz and Declan Rice.
