UEFA has announced the names of the top three nominees for the “Player of the Year” and “Coach of the Year” awards from UEFA for 2022/23.

The initial list of players and coaches was selected by UEFA’s technical study group based on their performance during the 2022/23 season at club and national level.

The top three candidates were then voted on by a jury made up of the coaches of the clubs that played in the group stages of the 2022/23 Champions League, Europa League and Conference League, along with the coaches of the men’s national team and federation teams. member of UEFA.

Coaches and journalists were asked to choose their top three players and coaches from the shortlist with five points, three points and one point awarded respectively.

The final result was based on the total number of votes cast by coaches and journalists. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their team’s players.

In the trio of players, Kevin de Bruyne, Lionel Messi and Erling Haaland received the most votes, while in the trio of coaches, Pep Guardiola, Simone Inzaghi and Luciano Spalletti received the most votes.

The winner of the Player and Coach of the Year award will be announced at the 2023/24 Champions League group stage draw ceremony, which will take place on Thursday 31 August in Monaco.
