Lionel Messi has admitted he never wanted to join Paris Saint-Germain in 2021, in a press conference where he made harsh comments towards his former team.

During a press conference held in Miami, the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner spoke about his new challenge in MLS, having turned down a return to Barcelona in June before deciding to move to the United St ates.

Since joining his new team, he has scored nine goals in six appearances for his side who will play in the League Cup final this weekend.

The Argentine admitted that he and his family are enjoying their new life in Florida.

“We’re still finishing up the fix, we arrived in Miami a month and a half ago. We still don’t have the house in which we will live, but it was very easy to choose Miami”, Messi first told TyC Sports.

“We were convinced to come to this country and the people made it very easy, both at the club when we arrived, and with the fans or the people I meet on the street.”

“The city is spectacular and makes it possible for you to live the day quietly and very easily. Children start school soon. While there is a bit left to do, it was easier than we thought. It was complicated to move from Barcelona to Paris”.

The World Cup winner then spoke about his departure from Barcelona to Paris.

“I am happy, enjoying this new phase and the experience of living in this country which is something that has always been on my mind. We are in the place where we want to be”.

“Going to Paris was neither planned nor desired. I didn’t want to leave Barcelona and it became difficult. But it is the opposite of what is happening to me now, thanks to God”, concluded the Argentine star.
