Uruguayan defender Ronald Araujo has suffered a thigh injury and this will keep him out for a while, which could be at least a month.
Araujo already missed a large part of last season due to injury, during which Barcelona struggled, especially in the Champions League.
They will be hoping to have him back by the start of this season’s group stage matches, although it is not known at this stage if that will be the case.
However, coach Xavi Hernandez has lined up potential replacements for Araujo on the right side of Barcelona’s defence.
Here are the four players who could replace the Uruguayan on the right wing, as a move for Joao Cancelo looks very difficult.
Jules Kounde, Sergi Roberto, Sergino Dest and Alejandro Balde are the names expected to replace Araujo.
Dest is a typical right-back, but the other three players have also played at full-back in the past.
