Barcelona have suffered a major blow as Pedri suffered another injury in training this (Thursday) morning.
The Blaugrana announced the right hamstring injury and did not provide a recovery time, but Cadena Cope believes he will miss more than six weeks.
That would keep him sidelined until early October, as well as Spain in September, and possibly into October when they face Scotland in their European qualifiers.
Thus, Pedri is expected to miss the matches against Villarreal, Osasuna, Real Betis, Celta Vigo, Real Mallorca, Sevilla and Granada in La Liga.
It’s also the first two Champions League games that Pedri will miss, and having failed to make it out of the group stage in recent years, this will be a major concern for Xavi.
Xavi started with five midfielders against Cadiz at the weekend, and with Ilkay Gundogan, Oriol Romeu, Frenkie de Jong and Gavi all available, he is not short of options, but it robs them of depth and perhaps their most creative player.
Pedro’s constant injuries are a serious concern for the Blaugrana these days and they can no longer rely on his presence throughout the season.
