Lukaku has rejected a top European team, only to join AS Roma

Roma are one step away from a full deal with Chelsea for Romelu Lukaku, who rejected a last-minute bid from Borussia Dortmund, reports Corriere dello Sport.

Giallorossi directors Ryan Friedkin and Tiago Pinto are in London trying to finalize the terms of a deal with the Blues for the 30-year-old Belgian striker, who wants to reunite with Jose Mourinho in the Italian capital.

Lukaku has agreed to take a pay cut of around €7.5m to complete the deal, which is expected to be a €5m loan with no buyout clause.

As reported by Corriere dello Sport via TMW, Borussia Dortmund came out in the last 24 hours to try and explore a late deal for Lukaku, but the player himself rejected the offer outright, having no interest in Germany.

Yesterday, Juventus contacted Chelsea to seek an update on their negotiations with Roma, suggesting another approach could come from Turin if talks with Mourinho’s side hit a snag.

Gianluca Di Marzio reports that an agreement has now been reached between Roma and Chelsea and a contract for Lukaku is now being drawn up.
