Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti is said to have had a ‘special conversation’ with the team’s two veterans, Toni Kroos and Luka Modric.

According to Marca journalist Jose Felix, the Italian highlighted an important role for Real Madrid’s younger midfielders this season, explaining that there is an ongoing generational change at the club.

However, Ancelotti assured the veterans that they will continue to play a crucial role this season, especially as Los Blancos begin playing two games a week.

The Real Madrid coach wanted to ensure there was no conflict with the two ‘heavyweights’ after they were dropped from the starting line-up at the start of the season.

This season, Ancelotti prefers to use a new ‘diamond’ formation with Federico Valverde, Aurelien Tchouameni, Eduardo Camavinga and Jude Bellingham as starting midfielders.

Kroos and Modric are expected to leave Real Madrid next summer. This looks to be their last season with the Kings.
