New developments for Mbappe’s future – PSG asks for renewal, Real Madrid imposes conditions

Kylian Mbappe continues to be the headline of this summer. Following his return to action with Paris Saint-Germain, tensions appear to have eased in France, with Real Madrid remaining furious at the idea of signing him.

It looks like he will be a PSG player at least until next summer, when his contract expires, despite reports to the contrary.

Now media outlet FootMercato claim that Mbappe is on the verge of signing a new three-year deal with PSG, keeping him under contract until 2026.

However, that deal is expected to include “a gentlemen’s agreement” that would allow him to leave for an agreed fee next summer. Sports Councilor Luis Campos has been very involved in this affair.

If this is indeed the case, that would rule him out of a move to Los Blancos, as according to media outlet Marca, to sign for them, Mbappe must not renew with PSG and appear on January 2 ready to sign a pre- contract with Real Madrid, as they are then allowed to speak directly with him. Real Madrid do not want to pay any fee for Mbappe.

It seems clear that if Mbappe will not abide by the conditions set by Real Madrid, then they must turn their attention elsewhere.

Mbappe caused widespread embarrassment last summer when he turned down Real Madrid, who had informed him he would join them. Handing it back to Mbappe would create a power dynamic with Mbappe clearly at the helm should he join.
