One of the best players in the world, Kylian Mbappe, has been at the center of a major soap opera all summer.
The Frenchman’s contract with PSG expires in the summer of 2024 and at the end of last season, Mbappe rejected the option of extending it for another year.
Although the contract requires the consent of both parties for an extension, his move angered PSG executives.
Mbappe informed them that he plans to play one more season for PSG and then leave as a free agent next summer. The club wanted to sell him to get a compensation and accepted Al Hilal’s offer of 300 million euros, but Mbappe did not even want to negotiate with the Saudis.
He was then suspended from PSG’s first-team squad for the Asian tour and the club told him he would spend the entire season on the bench.
As the English portal 90min writes, Mbappe has agreed to return to the team, but he will pay dearly.
He will have to give up the bonuses from his contracts, and this refers in the first place to the so-called loyalty bonus in the amount of 80 million euros in total.
Thus, the season of the French attacker will not be lost, but he will not sign the extension of the contract that the club insists on. Since returning to the first team, Mbappe has scored five goals against Toulouse, Lens and Lyon in the first three rounds of Ligue 1.
