Joao Felix reveals he accepted a significant pay cut to move to Barcelona

Joao Felix has confirmed that he has indeed agreed to take a huge pay cut to join Barcelona on loan this season.

Speaking to the newspaper Mundo Deportivo, the Portuguese striker explained why he did it.

“Yes, the truth is that I have given up a significant amount of money from my salary,” said Felix first.

“But well, I needed a change, I needed to go somewhere where I could play my football and as I always said I thought this would be the ideal place.”

“Things are going well and I had to make that effort to get back to the joy of playing,” concluded the Portuguese.

Felix will reportedly be paid just €400,000 by Barca for the entire loan period, with Atletico Madrid paying the remainder of his reduced salary.

The Portuguese forward has had a wonderful start to his career at his new club, scoring three goals in as many appearances already.
