Barcelona in the hunt, aims to strengthen in three positions

Barcelona are reportedly looking to sign three new players to strengthen their squad next year.

As reported by the Spanish media, the Blaugrana are exploring the market in search of a defensive midfielder and two full-backs for next season. Xavi wants competition for Oriol Romeu and has demanded at least two players for every position in the squad.

The Catalans have their eyes on Joshua Kimmich, as he has just 12 months left on his contract with Bayern Munich, which expires in the summer of 2024. Barcelona also have Arsenal’s Jorginho, Liverpool’s Thiago Alcantara on their wish list. and Guido Rodríguez of Real Betis, should they fail to land their top target Joshua Kimmich.

Although Xavi can count on the services of Sergi Roberto and Marcos Alonso to replace Joao Cancelo and Alejandro Balden, he wants to strengthen the bench and is therefore looking for two defenders.

Both Roberto and Alonso have less than a year left on their contracts and may not receive a renewal offer if the club are able to convince Villarreal to sell Juan Foyth who has a €54m release clause.

Cancelo’s future is also uncertain as they will have to negotiate a price with Manchester City if they wish to eventually buy his card. Therefore, the club will look at low-cost options.
