Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Andy Robertson is likely to undergo surgery after the Liverpool defender injured his shoulder against Spain.
The full-back suffered a nasty shoulder injury during Scotland’s EURO 2024 qualifier against Spain after colliding with goalkeeper Unai Simon.
After scans and analysis, the medical team has suggested that the player should undergo an operation which is likely to keep him out of the field of play for an indefinite period.
“I think that the decision will be made for him to undergo the operation. There’s a small chance it won’t happen, but all the experts say surgery is the best option, and that means he’ll be out for a while. We don’t know exactly how long,” Klopp said at the press conference before the game against Everton.
However, Liverpool have already received news of the return of Cody Gakpo, who missed the last two games before the international break after picking up a knee injury against Tottenham, a match which was fraught with controversy as VAR proved for wrongly disallowing Luis Diaz’s goal.
“Gakpo trained once with the team, so we have to see how he goes tomorrow,” added Klopp.
Liverpool returns to action this weekend, where they will face Everton in the city derby at “Anfied”.
