Mauricio Pochettino says it will be strange to face Mikel Arteta, who he sees as “family”.

“It’s not surprising what he’s doing because he was already a coach at the age of 19 when I first met him,” Pochettino said ahead of Arsenal’s visit to Chelsea.

Pochettino said that he considers Arteta as family and that he can become one of the best coaches in the world in the future.

“It’s no surprise that he’s brilliant, but he’s still very young and he’s improving day by day. He could be one of the greatest coaches in the world. It will be very nice because my love for him is there. It’s more than just friends, it’s family. This is the reason why it will be strange”, said the Argentine.

“All coaches are very competitive when you go to play a game. We want to win and destroy the opponent. It will be strange, but at some point I will feel proud when I see him”, said the 51-year-old.

Pochettino and Arteta will meet for the first time in the managerial role when Chelsea take on Arsenal at Stamford Bridge.

The pair joined PSG in 2001, when Pochettino was 29 and Arteta 19.
