In terms of strikers coming out of La Masia’s academy, one of the most promising in recent years was Ferran Jutgla. However, the 24-year-old struggled to make an impact in the first team and ended up le aving for Club Brugge in the summer of 2022.

Although his minutes in the first team left something to be desired, Jutgla believes he would have taken the chance if he had been given more by coach Xavi Hernandez.

In an interview with Catalunya Radio he said he believes he could have been Robert Lewandowski’s long-term successor.

“Of course I think I could have been a good replacement for Lewandowski, but when I left I knew there were many other strikers and I wanted to play. I had to make a decision and that’s what I did”, said Jutgla.

Jutgla has shown impressive form since joining Club Brugge, although he has struggled to secure a starting position so far this season. Barcelona, on the other hand, are calm about the striker situation, especially considering that Vitor Roque is coming in 2024.

So far, Jutgla has 16 goals and eight assists for the Belgian club, numbers that are expected to increase in the future.
