Insigne wants to return to Italy, two big teams behind him

Lorenzo Insigne can return to Serie A after a year and a half in Canada at Toronto FC.

Despite being one of the highest paid footballers in MLS, Insigne has failed to make a mark with his new team in the elite of American football.

Toronto has finished in last place in the Eastern Conference and Insigne is considering at least a loan move.

His contract with Toronto expires in the summer of 2026 and he will honor it, but wants to return to Serie A during the American league break.

Calciomercato has reported that the two major Italian teams, Roma and Lazio, have entered the race to acquire his services.

The 32-year-old is looking forward to a return to the elite of Italian football and has made it clear to his agents to continue negotiations.

However, it is only a loan, as Insigne earns around eight million euros in Toronto, an annual salary that no Italian team is able to pay.

The 32-year-old in 21 official games has scored five goals and assisted in four others with the Toronto jersey.
