It’s safe to say that Barcelona have built an excellent squad over the past two years, ever since Xavi Hernandez arrived to replace Ronald Koeman as manager.
There has been an impressive turnaround in quality in the first team, and it showed last season when the Catalans romped to their first La Liga title in four years.
Xavi clearly loves his team and ahead of Saturday’s El Clasico, he spoke to TNT Sports Brazil to discuss some of them.
First, he spoke about Raphinha, who is expected to be back available for the match against Real Madrid after several games absent due to injury.
“Raphinha gives us intensity, rhythm, goals, assists, defensive work. He is a very complete footballer and I like him a lot”, Xavi told Mundo Deportivo.
Xavi was also asked about talent Vitor Roque, and he reiterated his hope that the 18-year-old can join Barcelona in the winter transfer window.
“I spoke with Vitor, we are on good terms. I think he is a very prepared, very mature, mentally strong player and I hope he can make it in January”, concluded the Barca coach.
Xavi will be keen for his side to continue their unbeaten start to the season against Real Madrid on Saturday, and three points would be particularly sweet as Barcelona look to earn bragging rights over their bitter rivals.
