Barcelona is closely monitoring ‘Suarez 2.0’ as a possible successor to Lewandowski

Barcelona is following Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez with increased attention, who is seen as Robert Lewandowski’s successor at Camp Nou.

The Polish striker is nearing the end of his career and may not fulfill his contract with Barcelona which runs until June 2026.

Thus, the leaders of the Catalan club have started work to find Lewandowski’s successor.

According to reports from ESPN, Barcelona are currently monitoring 22-year-old Feyenoord striker Santiago Gimenez.

The Mexico international made a modest €6 million move from Cruz Azul to the Eredivisie club in 2022 and has already made a significant impact.

Gimenez has scored 38 goals in 57 appearances for the club, including 15 goals in just 12 games this season, becoming an interesting name for Europe’s big clubs.

Gimenez has been compared to legend Luis Suarez for his goalscoring prowess – as has Vitor Roque linked to Barça.
