Pep Guardiola has hailed Jeremy Doku as a great player after the Belgian striker’s superb performance in Manchester City’s 6-1 rout of Bournemouth on Saturday.
Doku opened the scoring and was then involved in the next four goals as the reigning champions defeated Bournemouth in a completely one-sided encounter at the Etihad.
It continued the fine impression the 21-year-old winger has made at City since his €55m move from French side Rennes in the summer.
“It was not the first time this season. All the matches he has played here have been fantastic. He surprised us all”, said Guardiola first.
Further, the Spanish technician said that he hopes that Doku will stay at “Citizens” for many years.
“Of course he has quality when he plays close to the area, we always talk about that, but it is difficult to find a player today with the ability to dribble in small spaces.”
“He is one of the fastest players in five meters. It’s incredible how he can change pace in five metres, but when he’s not able to dribble, he’s able to make good decisions and I’m impressed with that. That’s why he’s a great footballer.”
“I think he is happy and I hope he can be here for many, many years”, said the 52-year-old.
After the match, the coach of the guests, Andoni Iraola, said that this was the heaviest loss in his career as a manager, adding that City were very cool in front of the goal.
