Endrick broke the 30-year-old ‘myth’ in Brazil, only the ‘phenomenon’ Ronaldo had achieved something like this

Brazil coach Fernando Diniz has named his squad for their World Cup qualifiers against Colombia and Argentina, and 17-year-old wonderkid Endrick Felipe is in it.

The Palmeiras forward, who will join Real Madrid next summer for around €60 million plus bonuses, became the first 17-year-old to receive a call-up to the Brazilian national team in 30 years.

The last 17-year-old footballer to be included in the list of players of the Brazilian national team was Ronaldo in 1993.

“The call-up is not pressure, but a reward and an announcement of Endrick’s future success, which could become one of the best in history,” coach Diniz said of the teenager who scored 14 goals in 54 appearances for Palmeiras.

Brazil will play their first match against Colombia on November 17, while on November 22 they will face leaders Argentina.

The list of the Selecao does not lack big stars such as Vinicius Junior, Gabriel Jesus, Bruno Guimaraes and Alisson Becker.
