Two weeks since the kidnapping – Luis Diaz’s father is finally released

Luis Diaz’s father was released almost two weeks after he was kidnapped by members of the Colombian rebel group ELN.

The news was announced by Vicky Davila, the Colombian reporter who covered the whole situation with the kidnapping of Luis Manuel Diaz.

Davila wrote on Twitter: “Blessed be God! What joy that Luis Manuel Diaz, father of Luis Diaz, is free and returning to his family. What great pain and what happiness at the same time. Anxiety ends, torture ends. They are together again.”

The Colombian Football Federation confirmed the news: “The Colombian Football Federation thanks the National Government, the Military Forces and the National Police, as well as all the institutions and officials who made possible the release of Luis Manuel Diaz, the father of our player Luis Diaz.”

Diaz is currently in France preparing for Liverpool’s Europa League clash with Toulouse.
