“There is no sense behind Real Madrid”, the Spanish journalist advises Los Blancos

A possible Real Madrid move for Kylian Mbappe is expected to be the big transfer story of 2024.

Los Blancos remain heavily linked with a free transfer for the France captain despite rumors of disappointment over his contract demands.

Mbappe’s contract with Paris Saint-Germain expires at the end of the 2023/24 season with no progress on a renewal with the French club and Real Madrid could start talks from January.

Real Madrid are unlikely to make a major move for Mbappe until they are sure a deal will be brokered, as the Spanish giants missed out on him in 2022.

However, continued uncertainty could see them look elsewhere, and RMC Sport journalist Daniel Riolo has claimed that a move for Manchester City striker Erling Haaland makes more sense.

“If I put myself in Real Madrid’s place. I tell myself that it makes no sense to sign Mbappe, considering the team I have.”

“I think it would be better to go for Haaland,” Riolo told Diario AS.

Haaland could emerge as a target in 2024 should Real Madrid opt against Mbappe’s move, with a €200m release clause to be activated in his City contract.
