Ronaldo gave a ‘special’ gift to Vinicius after the challenge against Liechtenstein

Cristiano Ronaldo has given Real Madrid star Vinicius Jr a surprise gift after Portugal’s win over Liechtenstein.

The Brazilian striker has expressed his admiration for Ronaldo at every opportunity and even expressed his regret that he did not have the opportunity to play together with the Portuguese at Real Madrid.

Over the years, the two forwards have shared a strong bond of friendship with Ronaldo gifting him Real Madrid’s Portugal-Liechtenstein number seven shirt.

Ronaldo’s gesture comes after Vinicius emulated his iconic ‘Calma’ celebration, made famous during the Portuguese’s time in the Spanish capital, after scoring against Valencia in a 5-1 win.

The crowd at the Bernabeu were delighted to see Vinicius celebrate the club legend by starting to chant his name.

Vinicius has a special place in his home that he has called the ‘wall of icons’, where some of the best sportsmen of all time are stationed. It is a special mural, painted by the Spanish artist Rene Makela, and Ronaldo is one of the athletes who appears on that wall alongside Brazilian legends, Pele and Ronaldo Nazario.

Vinicius is currently recovering from an injury sustained during the international break and will miss the rest of the year, while Ronaldo will be back in action tomorrow (Monday) against Persepolis in the AFC Champions League .
