Nagelsmann leaves the door open for Kroos’ return to Germany

Germany coach Julian Naglesmann has left the door open for Toni Kroos to return to the German national team, should he decide to change his mind.

The Real Madrid star has decided to leave Germany after his poor performances at Euro 2020.

He expressed his desire to continue his career with Real Madrid, but putting his family first and spending more time with them.

However, Kroos has been relatively quiet about the possibility of playing for Germany once more and the focus is now on coach Nagelsmann, who has revealed he has spoken to the midfielder.

“Interesting thought,” Naglesmann had told ZDF’s SportStudio when asked about Kroos’s thoughts on returning.

“My job is to think about all the German players. Tony is a great person who has clearly given his opinion and a very successful footballer. You can talk to him about anything,” Nagelsmann continued.

When asked if Kroos is considering a return to Germany, Nagelsmann said: “No, not specifically. We talked about general topics”.

“I think that the fact that we will play the Euro at home is an attractive prospect for all German players. It depends on him, his performances and the other players”, concluded Nagelsmann.
