Manchester City already know who will replace Guardiola

Manchester City are currently seriously considering a potential candidate to replace Pep Guardiola according to a new report.

City made history on the final day of the season by winning their fourth consecutive Premier League title. This was Pep Guardiola’s 17th trophy in his regime at the Etihad, extending his record as the most successful manager in the English club’s history.

The Spaniard, who was confirmed as City coach in the 2016/17 season, has reached the figure of 300 games managed in the Premier League during the month of May.

Guardiola’s contract with City expires at the end of the 2024/25 season, meaning the club must prepare for his departure in the coming weeks and months.

With that in mind, City are reportedly set on one candidate in particular as rumors about Guardiola’s future have grown.

Football Transfers report that Xabi Alonso is being seen as the ideal candidate to replace Guardiola, as they believe the former Real Madrid man can continue his legacy.

In fact, City’s hierarchy have unanimously decided that Alonso is the right man for the bench and is currently the only candidate they are seriously considering.

Since taking the “reins” of Bayer Leverkusen in October 2022, Alosno has transformed the German team into an unbeaten team.

Leverkusen became the first team to complete an entire Bundesliga season without a defeat as they set a new European record of 51 consecutive games without defeat.
