Bayern Munich haven’t become a European powerhouse overnight. It’s the accumulation of world-class talent that has put them in a position to be a dominant force in football.

One of those world-class talents is centre-back Jerome Boateng, but a Premier League club have made an approach to sign the 28-year-old defender.

According to Sky Italy, Chelsea have contacted Bundesliga champions Bayern for Boateng.

The Daily Mail have reported that Chelsea did make an enquiry for Boateng last month, but it never developed beyond that, with Spanish source Don Balon claim that Boateng is hoping to push through a move to La Liga champions Real Madrid.

Chelsea have tried for both Leonardo Bonucci of Juventus and Virgil van Dijk of Southampton in recent weeks but have been rebuffed in their attempts to sign them, forcing them to reassess the situation.

It’s clear that the Blues have and will try again for the former Manchester City defender, but Bayern have been reported in the past to have no interest in offloading one of their key figures.
