Real Madrid reject Tottenham bid

After selling Kyle Walker to Manchester City last week for a world record fee, Spurs are now expected to make some moves in the transfer market.

Tottenham, as is now well known, are the only Premier League side not to make a signing so far this summer.

The likes of Federico Fazio and Clinton Njie have also been sold this weekend, to Roma and Marseille, so it is starting to feel like Tottenham are preparing to sign players.

Over the weekend and on Monday, Everton midfielder Ross Barkley continues to be linked with a move to Spurs.

AS report that Tottenham have had a 25 million euro offer for Mateo Kovacic rejected by Real Madrid.

The Croatian is 23 and has barely played at the Bernabeu over the past two seasons.

This is not the first time Spurs have been linked with a move for Kovacic, who is a great friend of former Tottenham midfielder Luka Modric.

AS add in their article that “Pochettino wants Kovacic to become the cornerstone of the London project.”

Whether Tottenham’s interest in Kovacic is real, will likely be revealed in the coming weeks.

Plenty of Serie A clubs are interested in the Croatian midfielder, including his former side Inter Milan and AC Milan and Napoli.

Meanwhile, Kovacic is keen to stay at Real Madrid and prove himself as a key player for Los Blancos.

Zinedine Zidane utilised Kovacic last season in games with heavy rotation, and he could well have a similar role in the coming campaign.

“Only a good offer” would convince Real Madrid to sell, according to the AS report.

Tottenham could do far worse than Kovacic, they did last summer with Moussa Sissoko, but whether their interest is genuine remains to be seen.
