Manchester City have entered the race to sign Real Madrid defender Danilo this summer, according to Marca.

This comes after Brazilian sports outlet Globo Esporte recently claimed that Premier League champions Chelsea were in advanced talks with the 26-year-old over a potential summer deal.

The Spanish newspaper claims that City boss Pep Guardiola is looking to battle it out with title rivals Chelsea in order to secure the Brazilian’s signature with Madrid eager to receive at least £26million.

The Manchester club have already brought in a recognised full-back for the upcoming campaign after completing the signing of former Tottenham man Kyle Walker.

Danilo is currently part of the official Real Madrid pre-season squad to tour the United States and he is set to feature in their first match against Manchester United later this week.

The Brazilian has struggled to make the desired impact at the Bernabeu since securing a permanent move from Portuguese giants Porto two years ago.

The defender only featured in 17 La Liga matches last season but he managed to contribute with two assists and scored his only goal of the campaign in a 5-2 home victory over Osasuna in September.

Danilo has enjoyed fantastic success during his time in the Spanish capital, picking up two Champions League trophies and a La Liga title.

The Brazilian’s current contract at the Bernabeu runs out in 2021.
