Manchester United have reportedly entered the race to sign Paris Saint-Germain and Italy midfielder Marco Verratti.
According to Tuttomercatoweb, Jose Mayorga – one of United’s top scouts – has held talks with Verratti’s camp.
It comes after the Red Devils studied the possibility of a deal for “several months”.
The website explains the midfielder is a “dream” for Jose Mourinho and the English giants are “one of the few teams in the world that can meet PSG’s demands”.
United are looking to sign a defensive midfielder and have been linked with Chelsea’s Nemanja Matic, who is also said to be a Juventus target.
Verratti appeared to be heading for Barcelona, but the Catalans have yet to agree a fee for the 24-year-old, with his club reportedly holding out for a fee in the region of €80m.
