Carlo Ancelotti basically confirms next destination for Renato Sanches

Bayern Munich manager Carlo Ancelotti says he is trying to persuade Manchester United target Renato Sanches to become an AC Milan fan amid rumours that he could make a transfer to the San Siro.

The Portugal international has struggled in his time at the Allianz Arena so far, starting just six Bundesliga games last season after a big-money move from Benfica.

Sanches rejected the chance to move to Manchester United on that occasion, and the Red Devils have been occasionally linked with him again this summer as he’s looked likely to move.

However, it now looks increasingly like the 19-year-old will instead make the loan move to Milan ahead of an eventual permanent transfer, with Ancelotti talking up the prospect of this deal going through.

Bayern play Milan in pre-season, and Ancelotti discussed his old side and a possible move for Sanches beforehand.

‘Milan have had a great transfer window so far,’ Ancelotti told reporters.

‘They have a better team this year and they’ll fight for the Scudetto, I wish them the best. With regard to my time, Milan has changed a lot but I have good memories.

‘I’m always happy to face Milan because I’m still a Milan fan and I push my players to become Milan fans.

‘Sanches? Right now he’s working for us, but yes I’m working to make him a Milan fan…

‘There’s nothing new on his future.’
