Arsenal face another blow in the race to keep Alexis Sanchez, with the news that PSG have agreed a deal with the player, and with personal terms set, are about to make Arsenal an offer.
Of course, Alexis going to Ligue 1 is certainly favourable in comparison to him leaving for Manchester C ity or another Premier League rival, yet Arsenal have made it very clear they want to keep him and see Alexis as being more valuable to them in the team for one season and leaving on a free than being sold this summer.
Of course, keeping a player who wants to leave a club when they’ve made it clear their heart is elsewhere is easier said than done, and 50 million euros is a huge amount of money for a player out of contract in a year.
It would also allow the Gunners to invest that money, in what has been a decent summer of spending for them so far.
Arsene Wenger has stated he expects Alexis to get the club back into the Champions League, but from the forward’s view point, he wants to be playing at the top level, and that means fighting for the Champions League trophy and league titles, not battling it out for the top four and Europa League.
