PSG ready to pay big

Paris Saint-Germain are becoming increasingly confident of signing Alexis Sanchez. Reports on Friday evening indicated that they had agreed to terms with the forward and now had to settle on a fee with Arsenal.

While the Guardian claim they’re opening discussions with a bid of £40m, the Mirror claim that the French giants are prepared to pay £70m for the Chilean. While he’s Arsenal’s star player, the Gunners will be tempted to sell.

Why Arsenal should sell

Sanchez only has one year left on his Arsenal deal. Wanting Champions League football, he’s refused to renew his contract at the Emirates, holding out for a reported £400,000-a-week. PSG will give in to those demands.

Should Arsenal refuse, they’ll more than likely lose Sanchez for nothing next year.

Not only would that be a financial blow, it could also boost one of their direct rivals. Manchester City want to sign Alexis. Arsenal have the opportunity to make a serious amount of money and scupper City’s move.

The departure of Alexis would leave a hole but Arsenal are rumoured to be signing Monaco’s Thomas Lemar.
