Real Madrid v Manchester United
Man United have one big game to go before they start their 2017-18 Premier League campaign.
Next week the Red Devils, and Europa League holders, take on Real Madrid, the Champions League winners, in the UEFA Super Cup.
The match will be played in the Philip II Arena in Skopje, Macedonia, on Tuesday.
Mourinho speaks to UEFA
On Saturday, a new interview with Jose Mourinho was posted on UEFA.com ahead of the match.
Mourinho, of course, previously managed Real Madrid before he took over the reigns at Man United, via Chelsea.
In the past few weeks, Mourinho’s relationship with Chelsea, and Chelsea boss Antonio Conte in particular, has soured.
The Special One made a joke about the Italian’s hair, after Conte warned the Blues to avoid having a “Mourinho season”.
Chelsea snubbed
Many people believe Mourinho has taken a fresh swipe at Chelsea by trolling them in an interview with UEFA.
Mourinho was asked about the importance of having steered Man United back into the Champions League. The Portuguese boss replied by discussing the differences between giants clubs:
The club will always be a giant … but our job is to try to bring the football team back to that stature. That’s something really difficult these days: before, the giants were the powerful ones economically, and now there are small clubs in terms of prestige and history who are giants economically.
That changes absolutely everything. But my feeling is that I want the team to be on a par with the club’s history, which is something I’ve been lucky enough to feel at every club: there was the same kind of feeling at Inter and Real Madrid.
Ouch!
Man United kick off their new Premier League campaign with a home match against West Ham next Sunday.
