Cristiano Ronaldo is ‘ready to play’ for Real Madrid in Tuesday’s European Super Cup clash against Manchester United, Zinedine Zidane has confirmed.
The 32-year-old has not been involved in first-team training with the club prior to this week and his trial into alleged tax evasion has begun in Madrid, but he looks set to face his former club in Skopje.
“Cristiano is here (in the squad) because he is ready to play, he is relaxed,” Zidane told reporters at his pre-match press conference.
“What impressed me most is that he is at the same level of fitness as he was the day of the Champions League final and his fitness is what I am interested in.
“Ronaldo being with us means a lot, and it means he is ready to play, however, we will see if he does or not.”
