Emery warns Real Madrid

After his side’s 3-1 loss midweek in the Champions League away to Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain coach Unai Emery has praised his players following their home thrashing of fellow Ligue 1 side Strasbourg.

Much talk had been given to what was going wrong in the French capital after their European defeat however a 5-2 home win had the coach reinvigorated.

“The victory was important after Wednesday’s game,” he told reporters during the post-match interview.

“We have won all our games at home, little by little, we must give our supporters the confidence for the matches that will be played against Marseille and Real Madrid.

“We have to show that we can maintain this level of play against the biggest teams, without disrespecting Strasbourg, who I respect a lot.

“Of course they remember Wednesday’s game, that’s normal, so it’s important to talk about positive things and we feel very strong in the Parc des Princes.”

Giovani Lo Celso came under criticism for bringing down Toni Kroos during the Champions League tie, which enabled Ronaldo the opportunity to bring Madrid level, although Emery showed his support of his player by insisting he was ‘happy’ with Lo Celso’s performances in the last two matches.
