Juventus confirm centre-back Merih Demiral faces long-time absence with an anterior cruciate ligament injury and meniscus damage.

The Turkey international had scored the opening goal in last night’s 2-1 Serie A victory over Roma at the Stadio Olimpico.

He then landed heavily after jumping for a header and limped off the field.

OFFICIAL STATEMENT:
During the game last night, Merih Demiral sustained a sprain to his left knee.

The diagnostic tests carried out at J | Medical this morning revealed injury to the anterior cruciate ligament along with associated injury to the meniscus.

Surgical intervention will be required in the coming days.

This will require surgery and usually rules players out for at least six months, which effectively ends not only Demiral’s season, but also his chances of playing at Euro 2020 for Turkey.
