Thomas Tuchel has asked Andreas Christensen to sign a new contract with Chelsea as soon as possible.
The defender is not playing regularly for The Blues, but the German coach sees him as part of his plans, but not without signing a new contract.
Tuchel has updated Christensen’s situation with a press conference, informing the player that he should hurry to renew the contract.
“I do not have good news. “I realized weeks ago that Andreas wants the same thing as us, and that is why it was not a problem for me, because we all wanted the same thing, as far as I understand,” said the German.
“We have been waiting for confirmation for a long time now. It is up to Andreas to behave as he does on the pitch, and to follow his words, as he says he loves Chelsea, tells us he wants to stay and be part of the project. “I believe it is a perfect part for us and it is not over here yet.”
“His career can still develop. But, as I said, it is in his hands. “We want commitment and we hope to have it,” Tuchel said.
Christensen is seen as a leader for the future in Chelsea defense, until his current contract expires at the end of this season.
