Matthias Ginter has become one of the most sought after defenders in Europe.

His fantastic performances in recent years with Borussia Moenchegladbach have significantly increased the value of the German representative.

The 27-year-old has entered the final year of his contract with Gladbach and has not accepted the renewal even though the club has offered him one.

Ginter aims to make the big step in his career and already many big clubs have been put behind him.

Barcelona are trying to bring the player closer, with the Catalans aiming for a personal deal with Ginter in January, so that the defender can join them as a free transfer in the summer of 2012.

Barça executives have already had their first conversations with the players’ agents and they have gone well.

However, the Catalans will not find his transfer easy at all, as there are other big clubs that love the German.
