Lautaro Martinez has admitted that Lionel Messi had asked him to join Barcelona, but expressed his happiness that he decided to stay at Inter.

In 2020, the Blaugrana were interested in transferring the 24-year-old, but did not reach an agreement with the Italian club.
“It’s true, Messi asked me to go to Barcelona. “We talked several times when we were engaged with Argentina.”
“He talked to me about the situation at the club, but I was always calm and I was constantly in talks with Inter to find an agreement (regarding the renewal), because I am happy here.”
“I am just happy to be here. “My family and I are very happy here,” Lautaro told SportMediaset.
The Argentine striker has recently renewed his contract with Inter until 2026.
