Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has warned the club’s chiefs that fans are expecting “bigger” names at Old Trafford this summer than Christian Eriksen, who will be the club’s second signing.
The Dane has a lot of experience from Tottenham and Inter, but Ferdinand believes that he is not a footballer who would replace Bruno Fernandes.
“I think Eriksen is a player who will be in the team. He will not play as a starter and I would be surprised if Ten Haag count on him from the start of the games. The position he plays is taken by Bruno Fernandes and I don’t think he can take it away from him. Maybe they can play together, but for that they need a strong player behind them. “However, the fans expect much more famous names to come to the team,” said Ferdinand.
So far, United have only signed left-back Tyrell Malacia from Feyenoord for just under £13m.
