Cristiano Ronaldo received a six-figure bonus just days before announcing he wanted to leave Manchester United. The bonus is part of the start of the second year of the contract he signed last summer when he returned to Old Trafford.
Ronaldo took a significant pay cut when he left Juventus. He agreed to pay nearly 50 percent less to play for the Red Devils again, which was offset by various annual bonuses.
Manchester United still maintains that Ronaldo is not for sale, but has no idea when or if he will be included in the team’s preparations for the new season.
While publicly expressing this view, the club is already considering options for his replacement. Some of the Red Devils’ sponsors, who helped fund the Portuguese’s wages, insist he stays to get a bigger return.
